Merry Opera: A Staged Messiah
Seen by over 11,000 people since 2011, with over 100 performances to date
In the Merry Opera Company's dramatisation of Handel's Messiah, twelve strangers seek spiritual comfort in their struggle to understand the world. Singing together in a church, they inspire each other to pick up the ragged ends of their faith and look to the future with hope.
One of our most beloved performances among audiences across the country, our staged rendition of Handel's Messiah is an exploration of faith and what it means to each individual, told through this timeless and universal oratorio. Every year we do our very best to bring our Messiah, directed by John Ramster, to as many new and familiar churches as possible.
If you think your local church or venue would be interested in hosting a production, you can contact us directly via to enquire further.
It is currently our hope to return our Staged Messiah to churches across the UK in Autumn 2021. As soon as we are certain it can safely be staged and enjoyed as it deserves, we will open bookings to the public. More information will be released as soon as possible via our mailing list, which you can subscribe to by emailing
